Indian Ocean: Multipurpose vessel (MV) was suspiciously approached 05 May 2011 at 1153 UTC while underway in position 14.43N 56.14E, south east of Salalah, Oman. 700 NM east of Somalia.

Two suspicious skiff boats were spotted heading towards (MV) at .08 NM starboard, Advanfort team informed the crew to raise the threat level on MV. The Skiff boats at .03 nautical miles engaged (MV) by shooting 5 shots at the vessel. Advanfort had shot in return 3 warning shots and showed their intent to engage by taking their positions at which the parties abandon the attack

AdvanFort Team 146 activated the emergency response plan, all of the armed security team members on board the vessel.

Use of force escalated to level 3,Firing warning shots and showing their weapons and intent to use it. No violation of Rules of Engagement were reported. Team, Crew and the vessel are fine and good to carry on the voyage.
